A Homemade Scale Was Creating Bad Data.
Now it’s Replaced.

The Problem

A multi-site industrial manufacturer was weighing material bound for customers on a scale the plant had built itself: load cells bolted under a wooden platform. The construction was solid, but it had never been certified, nobody on-site realized that gap against what the business actually needed for invoicing. On top of a homemade scale, every weight had to be typed into the business system by hand, one entry at a time, which meant every invoice carried the risk of a keying error nobody would catch until a customer questioned the number.

The setup had been running long enough that it read as normal to the plant. It surfaced only because a System Scale technician was on-site for something else and looked at the scale with a compliance eye instead of a maintenance eye.

The Fix

System Scale flagged the legal-for-trade exposure during the plant survey and walked the customer’s team through what certified, legal-for-trade equipment was required for the application. Our team worked with the customer to spec and replace the equipment. The new set up utilizes a programmed IND700 terminal to transmit weight reading directly into the business system instead of typing it manually.

The Result

Since data is now directly transmitted and a new certified system has been installed, manual weight-entry errors are gone and the legal-for-trade compliance gap is closed. The plant now has a cleaner, faster, and fully compliant weight-to-invoice process in place.
