Your Cooling Decisions Are Only as Good as Your Sensors

Data centers run cooling, humidity control, and power monitoring off instrument readings. Supply air temperature. Humidity in the data hall. Differential pressure across a filter bank. Chilled water pressure at the pump. When one of those readings drifts, nothing alarms. The building management system keeps trusting a bad number, setpoints shift, and the mechanical plant works harder than it has to. The first sign is a hot spot or an audit finding. System Scale calibrates the instruments your facilities team uses to verify those readings, under our ISO/IEC 17025 scope, with certificates built to hold up in an audit.

What We Calibrate

Where Calibration Lives in Your Facility

Every instrument on this page is one we calibrate ourselves. Need something that isn’t listed? Ask. If it’s outside our scope, we’ll tell you before we quote it.

Data Hall & White Space

Temperature and humidity data loggers, RTDs, thermocouples, and infrared thermometers used to verify supply air, return air, and the room’s environmental envelope.

Mechanical Plant & Chilled Water

Pressure gauges, vacuum gauges, and manometers for differential pressure, plus temperature probes used across chillers, air handlers, pumps, and filter banks.

Water Treatment

Conductivity meters your team uses to check makeup water and cooling tower water quality.

Electrical Rooms & Switchgear

Multimeters, AC/DC meters, DC current clamps, insulation testers, hipot testers, oscilloscopes, and process meters used for electrical maintenance and verification.

Install Crews & Maintenance Shop

Torque wrenches and torque screwdrivers for bolted connections and rack hardware, plus force gauges.

Shipping & Receiving

Floor and bench scales at the dock. Scale calibration is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited at all 26 System Scale locations.

How We Work

Onsite or in the Lab

Some instruments can’t leave the floor without a gap in coverage. Others are faster to ship. Our technicians calibrate equipment onsite, and our in our dedicated calibration labs handle nationwide mail-in. One schedule and one set of certificates, wherever the work happened.

Whoever Holds the Calibration Line Item

Calibration spend in a data center sits in different places. Sometimes it’s the owner’s facilities team. Sometimes it’s the commissioning firm, the mechanical or controls contractor, or the facility management company running the site. We work with all of them. If you hold the maintenance contract, we can be the calibration partner behind it.

Certificates Built for Your Next Audit

Every calibration ships with a certificate traceable to NIST and issued under our ISO/IEC 17025 scope, with as-found and as-left data so you can see what drifted and by how much. Certificates and due dates live in CalVault, so the next audit or customer request pulls from one place instead of five inboxes. Check our master scope before a bid, an audit, or a customer file request.

A Company Built to Last · Not to Flip

The Technician Calibrating Your Facility Has
Equity in Getting It Right.

System Scale has been employee owned since 1995. That’s not a trivia fact. It defines how we do business. We aren’t a PE roll-up and we aren’t building to sell. The technician calibrating your instruments is an owner, not a rotating contractor.

Continuity. You get the same technicians on your site, not a rotating dispatch queue. They learn your facility, your access requirements, and your change windows.

Retention. Employee ownership creates stability. Our technicians stay longer, build familiarity with your facility, and become more effective over time.

Independence. We are not building to sell. You do not have to worry about an acquisition changing your pricing, service model, or relationships overnight.

Questions

Data Center Calibration FAQ

What instruments in a data center need regular calibration?

The instruments your team uses to verify environmental, mechanical, and electrical readings: temperature and humidity data loggers, RTDs and thermocouples, pressure gauges and manometers, conductivity meters, electrical test equipment, and torque tools. Your quality system and the manufacturer’s recommendations set the final list. We can help you build it.

How often should data center instruments be calibrated?

Start with the manufacturer’s recommended interval, then adjust based on as-found history. An instrument that comes back in tolerance every cycle can support a longer interval. One that drifts needs a shorter one. Your as-found data is what makes that decision defensible.

Is System Scale ISO/IEC 17025 accredited?

Yes. All 26 System Scale locations are ISO/IEC 17025 accredited for scale calibration, and our dedicated calibration labs carry a broader scope of accreditation for other instrument types. Our full scope and certificate are posted on our scope of accreditation page.

Can you calibrate instruments onsite?

Yes, for many instruments. Our technicians work from 26 locations across 10 states. Tell us what you have and we’ll tell you what makes sense onsite and what should come to the lab.

Do you work with commissioning firms and contractors?

Yes. We work directly with facilities teams and with the commissioning firms, mechanical and controls contractors, and facility management companies that maintain data centers.

What if you don’t calibrate an instrument we use?

We’ll tell you before we quote it. We don’t calibrate outside our scope, and we won’t put our name on a certificate we can’t stand behind.

Where do our calibration records live?

In CalVault, our customer portal. Certificates and due dates for every site, in one place, ready when an auditor asks.
