Reducing Consistent Ticket Printer Jams in High-Humidity Environments
One of our partners in the Baton Rouge area was dealing with recurring ticket printer jams inside their kiosk systems. The problem showed up often and always for the same reason. High humidity. The extra moisture in the air caused the receipt paper to swell slightly, which made it stick during ejection. To help their team keep the kiosk operating smoothly, the System Scale team focused on a practical fix rather than recommending new printers, new paper, or a larger rework of the kiosk. Our technicians see this challenge frequently in high-humidity regions, so we adjusted the kiosk’s internal heater and added desiccant packs to absorb excess moisture around the printer. Reducing the moisture inside the kiosk kept the receipt paper from swelling, which prevented the binding that caused the jams.
After making the adjustments, printer jams dropped significantly. The kiosk now runs more consistently with fewer interruptions, fewer service calls, and a smoother flow of traffic. The partner gained a simple, low-cost solution that keeps their kiosk operating dependably in a humid environment.
