Mid-Sale Breakdown.
Same-Day Recovery.

A livestock auction in north-central Oklahoma lost its stock scale in the middle of a 500-head Saturday sale. A licensed technician from SSC’s Tulsa office repaired, calibrated, and recertified the scale on site. The sale finished the same day.

The Problem

For one of our Oklahoma customers, Saturday is livestock sale day. This one had 500 head of cattle on the schedule and buyers in the seats. Around midday, with the sale in full swing, the stock scale went down.

At a livestock auction, the scale is the cash register. Cattle sell by weight. When the scale stops, the sale stops, and every animal still in a pen is a transaction that cannot close. Calling the sale off meant sending buyers home and pushing the rest of the day’s cattle to another date.

The Fix

The auction, an existing System Scale customer, called the Tulsa office. Our licensed scale tech was on site quickly and went to work with a full audience.

Getting the scale working again was only half the job. Once the repair was complete, our tech calibrated the scale, completed the required documentation, and returned it to service before another animal crossed it. For a scale used to determine the selling price of livestock, getting the equipment operating accurately and legally was essential.

The Result

The sale picked back up and finished that day. No rescheduled sale. The remaining cattle were weighed after the scale had been repaired, calibrated, and returned to service.

Why It Matters

A Company Built to Last.
Not to Flip.

Nobody in the Tulsa office was going to tell a full sale barn to come back next week if there was a way to finish the day. Austin worked the problem like an owner because he is one. That’s the difference between a technician working a call list and one with a stake in the company that sent him. The job wasn’t done when the scale came back on. It was done when the weights could be trusted.

System Scale has been employee-owned since 1995. In business since 1979. We’re not a roll-up, and we answer the phone on a Saturday.
